Large volumes of cash- source of corruption: PM Modi

According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is the large volumes of liquid cash that are the biggest source of corruption and black money in our country. On Friday he appealed to the people to “lead the change” towards cashless transactions that will lay strong foundations for our country’s economy, which will lead to corruption free India. He guaranteed the people of the nation about his decision for the Demonetisation move, and said that the digital economy is a better economy than cash economy as it will keep transactions in white. It will also help in the ease of business not only for large scale businesses but also small scale industries.

In a LinkedIn article he posted that the 21st century India is no place for corruption. As corruption not only slows down growth of the economy, but also takes a toll on the dreams of the poor and the middle class in our country. Adding about his decision of demonetisation of high-value denominations of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 on November 8, he said that huge amounts of liquid cash are the main reason for black money problem in our country.

PM Modi also added, “Corruption slows down growth and takes a toll on the dreams of the poor, neo-middle class and middle class.” In this regard, he showed his support to digital economy and added, “I urge all of you, particularly my young friends to lead the change and inspire others to turn towards cashless transactions. This will set the strong foundations of an India where there is no place for corruption and black money.”

The PM urged the people of the nation, “Today we live in an era of mobile banking and mobile wallets. Ordering food, buying and selling furniture, ordering a taxi…all of this and lot more is possible through your mobiles. Technology has brought speed and convenience in our lives.” He also added that “I am sure most of you are using cards and e-wallets regularly but I thought I must share with you ways through which increased cashless transactions are possible.”

PM Modi also said that the demonetisation decision offers a unique opportunity to the small traders and that will lead to an economic transformation in our country. The higher the number of people embracing technology and going cashless, the more our country will prosper.

The Prime Minister traveled to rural as well as urban areas in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa and Punjab over the last few days. He said that in every village and city when asked, people  felt the Demonetisation drive was a good move. If helping the poor and middle class sections over come hurdles and decrease corruption in the country, he says that answer was unanimously, a huge Yes!
