Over the past week, images have been circulating on social media that claim to be the new Rs. 1000 note that will be releasing soon. But these notes are fake and the government has no plans to introduce Rs. 1000 notes anytime in the near future.

Fake Rs. 1000 notes images circulating on the social media.

On Wednesday morning, the Government issued a statement that they do not have any plans to introduce Rs. 1000 notes and their main focus is presently on Rs. 500 notes and the lower denominations of Rs. 100, Rs. 50, Rs. 20 and Rs. 10. Till Demonetisation on November 8, the highest denomination was Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500. These have been replaced with Rs. 2000 notes and new Rs. 500 notes. With 86 percent of currency withdrawn the Country faced extreme cash crunch for months with the availability of only Rs. 100 notes.

The government also said that they will introduce Rs. 1000 notes in the future but did not set any time frame for it. The cash crunch has reduced considerably recently with the adequate printing and circulation of Rs. 500 and Rs. 2000 notes. But for the Rs. 1000 notes, the wait has been extended considerably.
