Kerala youth Congress leader C.R. Mahesh said on Tuesday that if the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi was not capable, then he must make way for the leaders who can lead the party. On his Facebook page, the leader wrote, “Respected Rahul Gandhi, if you are not interested in taking the lead, please make way, as this great entity that has roots all over the country is getting snapped.”
The youth Congress vice president has contested in the 2016 Assembly election from Karunagapallu in the Kollam District of Kerala. He lost to the CPI’s R. Ramachandran by 1,759 votes. Mahesh also said that the Congress in Kerala was without a president for almost two weeks.

Referring to the student wing of Congress, he said, “This comes at a time when the failures of the CPI-M and the BJP have to be highlighted and also when the top leadership of the party in Congress is watching from the sidelines the factional feud going on in the KSU.” He also urged to A.K. Anthony, the former Defence Minister, to the circumstances in the Congress party. He said, “We are prepared to die to see that the Indian National Congress stays alive in the country but it should be ensured that merit should be given due credit.”
Congress party has faced repeated losses in the elections, for which the senior leaders of the party questioned Rahul Gandhi’s leadership. Digvijaya Singh, a senior congressman said that Rahul Gandhi was not taking any proper decisions for the party. Satyavrat Chaturvedi, a close acquaintance of Sonia Gandhi also has questioned Rahul’s leadership after the humiliating defeat of Congress in Uttar Pradesh
The general secretary of Congress in UP, Umesh Pandit said that Rahul should be held responsible for the party’s loss in the State and also asked for Priyanka Gandhi’s elevation in the state party.
