Bharti Airtel is ever expanding and in another step towards expansion, have acquired yet another network, the Telenor India Communications Pvt., Ltd. This deal will help in Airtel gaining another 1800 Mhz. The Telecom giant in a statement said that they will acquire seven circles including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh (East,) Uttar Pradesh (West,) Assam and Maharastra.
Gopal Vittal, the managing director and the CEO of Bharti Airtel said, “The customers of Telenor India will now be able to enjoy India’s widest and fastest voice & data network and a range of Airtel’s world class products and services”This acquisition will transfer all the Telenor India assets and customers to Airtel and will increase the Airtel’s customer base and network even more.
Sigve Brekke, the CEO of Telenor Group said that “Finding a long term solution to our India business has been a priority for us, and we are pleased with our agreement with Airtel. The decision to exit India has not been taken lightly. After thorough consideration, it is our view that the significant investments needed to secure Telenor India’s future business on a standalone basis will not give an acceptable level of return.”
This deal is yet to get the required regulatory approval and until that the operations and services of Telenor will continue in the near future.
