Andhra Pradesh All Set To Conduct Graduate MLC Elections On 14th March

Andhra Pradesh is all set to conduct the Graduate Legislative Council (MLC) elections. The elections are to be held in six constituencies on the 14th of March. As many as 12 candidates are in the fray for the post.

On the 11th of February, the State Election Commission (SEC) announced the election schedule for the Teacher Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) positions.

The Teacher MLC elections would be held in East Godavari, West Godavari, Guntur and Krishna districts respectively.

District Collector D. Muralidhar Reddy supervised the arrangements made for the smooth conduct of East and West Godavari Teachers’ MLC elections. He issued orders to implement Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC.)

Section 144 would be implemented from 7:00 A.M., till 5:00 P.M. within a 200 metre radius.

In regard to the polling arrangements, Mr. Reddy conducted a videoconference with officials along with district superintendent of police Adnan Nayeem Asmi.

Polling would begin from 8:00 A.M., to 4:00 P.M., but in Naxal areas polling would be from 8:00 A.M., to 2:00 P.M.

There are 12 polling stations in 11 mandals which come under Naxal affected areas in Rampachodavaram and Yetapaka revenue divisions.

Meanwhile, the results of the votes would be announced on the 17th of March.
