In Andhra Pradesh, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) asked the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government to announce Amaravati as the State Capital.

During the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Budget Session 2022-2023, the CPM leader Mr. Babu Rao said that construction of the capital city is not the concern of the YSRCP and  the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)  He asked the YSRCP Government to take action against the TDP, if they had committed  mistakes, but by not announcing Amaravati as the only State Capital, the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government is breaking dreams of people, who hoped Amravati to be the State Capital.  It is to be noted, the Andhra Pradesh High Court, ordered Amaravati to be the State Capital, which dismissed the proposal of the YSRCP Government to have three State capitals.  However, the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is yet to announce the same in the ongoing Budget Assembly Session, which would end on the 25th of March.

The CPM leaders addressed the farmers at the hunger strike camps at Venkatapalem and Mandadam and expressed solidarity to their struggle.  Mr. Babu Rao demanded the Bapatla  Member of Parliament (MP) and the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ms. Undavalli Sridevi to express their opinion on the capital city.  He also asked the YSRCP Government to increase the pension to agriculture laborers to Rs 5,000.

The CPM said, during the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections campaign, the YSRCP promised pensions would be enhanced to Rs. 5,000, which is still pending.

In regard to this, the CPM called for a dharna on the 21st of March and urged everyone including farmers to participate.
