Andhra Pradesh Curfew Amid COVID-19 Is Now Till June 20

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) extended the ongoing curfew till the 20th of June. The decision to extend the curfew was taken to control the spread of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the State.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy took the decision after conducting a review meeting. The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet ministers, the Medical Department officials and other senior staff attended the meeting scheduled on the 7th of June.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the concerned officials to take the necessary steps in order to contain the spread of the Wuhan virus. Currently, with 4,872 new cases, Andhra Pradesh has 17,58,339 positive cases, of which 1,23,426 are active cases.

In addition, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also directed the officials to ensure support to the children who lost their parents, due to the Wuhan virus illness. In regard to this, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) led A.P., Government launched a Children Centre. The centre run by the State Government would ensure financial support, schooling and other needs of the children who lost their families due to the pandemic. 

Meanwhile, during the imposed curfew shops would be allowed to open daily from 6:00 A.M., till 2:00 P.M. Previously, the relaxation timing was from 6:00 A.M., to 12 noon. Besides this, government officials are entitled to work from 8:00 A.M., to 2:00 P.M.

In addition, as per the State Government orders, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC,) which restricts gatherings of more than 5 people is in effect across the State.

During the curfew timing, only emergency services would be allowed. The newly imposed curfew would begin from the 11th of June and would be in effect till the 20th of June.
