The Election Commission (EC) of Andhra Pradesh, on the 3rd of May, lifted the Model Code of Conduct in 4 districts of Andhra Pradesh.

The decision to lift the MCC was taken after a meeting in which all the concerned departments discussed and unanimously acted upon one decision.

The four districts, where the Model Code of Conduct is not in force are East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srisaikulam, Andhra Pradesh.

However, the reason behind the lift of the MCC is not yet announced.

The MCC is a set of guidelines given to the political leaders and parties and was enforced by the Election Commission of India. The MCC comes into action after the ECI announces the election dates and continue till the results are announced.

Every political party has to follow the MCC while campaigning for the Lok Sabha and the Assembly elections across India. If any party or leader violate the guidelines of the MCC, the ECI has all rights to take strict action against the individual.

On the 11th of March, the ECI announced the elections dates, following which the MCC came into action in Andhra Pradesh.

The removal of the MCC, now makes the State Government eligible of taking relief operations, conduct review meetings and welfare activities without going to EC for permissions.

The Chandrababu Naidu led Telugu Desam Party can function easily without any code of conduct in the State.

Andhra Pradesh contested the Lok Sabha and the Assembly elections for 25 and 175 seats respectively, on the 11th of April.

The results of the Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will be announced on the 23rd of May.
