Andhra Pradesh: Man Tries To Demolish NTR Statue, TDP Condemns And Stages Protest

In the Durgi region of Macherla district, tension prevailed after a man tried to demolish a statue of NTR, the founder of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)

According to sources, a man was trying to demolish the statue, following which the TDP leaders demanded action.  The TDP called for protests in the wake of the attempted demolition of the NTR statue.  To control the situation, the Telangana Police imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in the Durgi region. 

Meanwhile, several TDP leaders were arrested in the Palnadu area.  The TDP leader Chirumamilla Madhu Babu was arrested at Karampudi and Jhulakanti Brahmareddy at Oppicherla. 

Due to the arrest of the TDP leaders, a clash took place between the police and the TDP cadres.  The Narasaraopet TDP in charge of Chadalwada Aravind Babu was placed under house arrest along with other leaders. 

In addition, the TDP staged a protest at the NTR statue at Chandramouli Nagar, Guntur, condemning the incident.  Mr. Kovelamoodi Ravindra, Mr. Ravipati Saikrishna, Mr. Pilli Manikyala Rao, Mr. Hanumant Rao, Telugu youth, and TNSF leaders took part in the protest. 

Meanwhile, Nandamuri Ramakrishna, son of NTR, was outraged over the incident and said that the destruction of the NTR statue is like insulting the Telugu nation. He demanded that the thugs should be arrested immediately and warned of severe consequences.
