The new Andhra Pradesh Cabinet was sworn in at Amaravati on Monday, the 11th of April, a few days after all 24 ministers submitted their resignation to Chief Minister Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan administered the oath of office and secrecy to 25 members of the Cabinet at a function organized near the state Secretariat in the capital city Amaravati.  In the new cabinet, CM Reddy inducted 13 new faces and re-inducted 11 from his first team. Veteran legislator Dharmana Prasada Rao has also been taken into the Cabinet, making him the senior-most minister.
The ministers resigned on the 7th of April, ahead of the proposed reorganisation of the Council of Ministers. They submitted their resignations to the chief minister at Andhra Pradesh Secretariat.  The newly formed cabinet has a mixture of senior and experienced leaders as well as fresh and young faces for balanced governance in the state.  The fresh Council of Ministers has been constituted on the lines of caste and community, with 10 berths going to backward classes. Two, including the Chief Minister, are from the minority communities, five from the Scheduled Castes and one from the Scheduled Tribes.
Four ministers each from the Reddy and the Kapu communities have also been included in the new Cabinet. It also has four women members.  Kamma, Kshatriya and Vysya communities that had one representative each in the previous Cabinet have now been completely left out. The Brahmin community has again denied a place in Cabinet.
This cabinet reshuffle holds importance ahead of the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.
At the time of taking over the chief ministerial post of Andhra Pradesh on May 30, 2019, Reddy had announced that he would undertake a complete overhaul of his cabinet after two and a half years and take in a new team.
The previous cabinet was sworn-in on June 8, 2019, and was supposed to be in office till December 8, 2021.
