Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, on the 5th of March, Saturday, laid the foundation stone for the National Academy of Customs, Indirect taxes and Narcotics Academy.
The Union Minister reached Bengaluru Airport, Karnataka, on the afternoon of Saturday via a special flight. From the Bengaluru International Airport, she left for Palasamudram village in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, where she laid the foundation stone for the academy, which would be established at a cost of Rs. 730 crores.
Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman participated in Bhoomi Pooja for the commencement of works for the establishment. Notably, the national academy would be spread across 500 acres of land.
Besides Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Mr. Bugganna, the Road and Building Minister Mr. M.Sankara Narayana, and Union Minister of State for Finance Mr. Pankaz Chowdhury, government whip Kapu Ramachandra Reddy and the Member of Parliament (MP) Mr. Gorantla Madhav participated in the event.
