On the 12th of December, a few Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders were house arrested in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.

The decision to house arrest the TDP leaders was taken to stop their “Chalo Thamballapalle Programme” in Chittoor.

The agitation was called by the TDP against a clash between the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and the TDP cadres. The clash resulted in severe injury to one of the TDP activists and damage of properties like vehicles.

The clash took place in Angallu village of Thamballapalle constituency on the 11th of December.

According to sources, the TDP leaders including Dommalapati Ramesh and Shankar Yadav and the TDP Piler in charge Nallari Kishore Kumar Reddy were on their way to Angallu and B. Kothakota mandal headquarters to call on the families of party workers, who had died in recent months due to various reasons.

However, about 100 YSRCP workers stopped their vehicle on the road and raised slogans demanding them to go back.

Soon the TDP cadres arrived at the spot which lead to a clash leaving five people injured and some cars were damaged.

In regard to this, the Party called for a protest today, the 12th of December.

On the other hand, to prevent any untoward incidents in this regard, the Chittoor police house arrested TDP leaders at their respective residences.

Leaders under house arrest are: former ministers like N. Amarnath Reddy, N. Kishore Kumar Reddy, G. Shankar Yadav, Pulivarthy Nani, B.N.Rajasimhulu, G. Narasimha Yadav.

Meanwhile, the Chittoor police also issued an order and made it clear that no rallies or demonstrations are allowed in the district.
