The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government is scheduled to distribute old age pensions, on the 1st of March, Tuesday.

Despite being a holiday on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government would distribute the pension and released an amount of Rs. 1,557.06 crores for the same.  A total of 61,25,228 beneficiaries across the State are eligible for the pension in March.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) officials to ensure the process of depositing pension funds in the accounts of all village and ward secretariats, announcing the completion of the process by Monday evening, the 28th of February.  With this, every beneficiary would get their pensions in the first week of March despite the State holiday for Maha Shivratri.

According to sources, volunteers would go to the beneficiaries’ homes and disburse the money. The distribution program which started from the 28th of February, would continue till the 4th of March, by which all the 61,25,228 people would get their pension benefits.  Biometric and iris systems are being implemented for identification for the payment of pension to the beneficiaries without any manipulation.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) policy has also been made available to this extent and the officials have taken all the steps to ensure that there are no complaints due to technical reasons. 

Meanwhile, the call centers have been set up at the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) offices in 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh to monitor the distribution of pensions, smoothly.
