The Kadapa Police conducted a raid at the residence of C.M. Ramesh, a Member of Parliament (MP) of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) in Potladutti of Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh.

On the 5th of April, approximately 50 policemen entered the house of Ramesh and conducted the raids. The police allegedly entered the MP’s house and started searching the place without any search warrant.

According to sources, the raids were conducted upon the orders of the Kadapa Superintendent Police (SP,) after the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) complained about the TDP member.

However, the Police team went empty handed, as they did not find any illegal items at the residence of C.M. Ramesh.

With the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections just a few days away, the Andhra Pradesh Police also tightened the security in the State and are acting immediately upon receiving any complaints against any political parties.

Recently, based on a complaint filed by the YSRCP members, the Election Commission of India (ECI) transferred three Indian Public Service (IPS) officers from Andhra Pradesh.

Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of the YSRCP, complained to the ECI, the three IPS officers were working for the TDP, ahead of the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh will contest a total of 175 seats and 25 seats in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections respectively. The elections in the State are scheduled on the 11th of April.

The major parties contesting the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections are the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) the JanaSena Party and the TDP.

The results of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be declared on the 23rd of May 2019.
