The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President of Andhra Pradesh Somu Veerraju wrote a letter to A.P., Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.  The letter dated, the 21st of April was in the wake of the School Secondary Certificate (SSC) examination which has not been cancelled by the State Government led by the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)

Mr. Somu Veerraju asked Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy asking him to cancel the Class X and Intermediate examinations in the wake of the spike in the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh.  He said it was not right to conduct tests as per the schedule due the increasing number of Coronavirus cases in the State.   In his letter, he explained that students have to come for the exams by public transport only, which causes the corona to spread further.

Somu Veerraju said in the letter that the State Government should focus on the treatment and charges of COVID-19 patients in private hospitals.

Somu Veerraju said that despite spending a few lakhs, the lives could not be saved. The government has a responsibility to protect the patients. Special attention should be paid to the supply of drugs and oxygen required for the control of covid disease.  In the letter, he also asked for setting up of oxygen production centers in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Rayalaseema.

The letter of Somu Veerraju came day after the BJP’s alliance party JanaSena party President Pawan Kalyan demanded the same.  Pawan Kalyan on the 20th of April, asked the Andhra Pradesh Government to cancel the examinations in the unprecedented times of coronavirus second wave outbreak.

However, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has already made clear that the tenth abd Intermediate examinations would be held as per schedule and declared holidays for class 1 to 10.

Stay tuned for further updates.
