The Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Cabinet is expected to conduct a meeting on the 27th of December.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P., would chair the meeting.  The meeting is being organised to discuss the proposal of Andhra Pradesh having three capitals and the report submitted by the G.N. Rao Committee.

Recently, the G.N. Rao Committee submitted a report to the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) regarding the 3 capitals.

The Committee agreed with the decision of the YSRCP Government to have 3 capitals—Visakhapatnam, Kurnool and Amaravati.  The Committee also designed a plan for the construction and development of the three cities.

The meeting is expected to be held in Visakhapatnam, which is said to be a strategic move by the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSRCP to indirectly clarify its stand about the State having three capitals.

According to sources, after the Cabinet meeting, the YSRCP is expected to officially announce if Andhra Pradesh would have one capital or three capitals.

Meanwhile, the Amaravati farmers who gave their lands to the former State Government are protesting against the State Government for deciding to have two more capitals along with Amaravati.  The farmers said, “Our fertile lands were taken away and now they are trying to shift the capital from here. Our future has been pushed into darkness and we have been thrown on the roads.”

However, an official announcement about Andhra Pradesh having 3 capitals would be made on the 27th of December, after the Cabinet meeting.

Stay tuned for further updates.
