On the 16th of December, Thursday, Mr. Kalyan Krishnamurthy, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Flipkart, met with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The delegation of Flipkart, an e commerce company, discussed issues related to investment and business opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. The meeting was held at the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Camp Office in Tadepalli, A.P.

During the meeting, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy explained about the Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs.) He said, the scheme has been launched as a revolutionary move to enhance agriculture sector in the State. He even asked the Flipkart delegation to help the farmers get better prices for their crops and also make better technology available to them.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said CMAPP (Continuous Monitoring of Agriculture Prices and Procurement) has been monitoring prices regularly and asked Flipkart to provide adequate support to improve it further. Responding to the same, the Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said they will take appropriate steps to procure products from farmers for their commodities business. He added that they would do their best in providing better technology to the farmers.

Speaking about the establishment of Flipkart in A.P., the Chief Minister said Visakhapatnam is a good platform for IT and e-commerce investments in the state and invited Flipkart to invest in the port city. He said the YSRCP Government is setting up a high-end skill university in Visakhapatnam to enhance the skills of the youth and asked the e-commerce giant to become partners in it.

Responding positively to the proposals of the Chief Minister, the Flipkart CEO said their company was already active in Visakhapatnam and added that they would invest more in the city. He said they would also partner in skill development activities, hoping to begin the programme from 2022.

Flipkart officials Mr. Rajneesh Kumar and Chief Minister’s Secretary Mr. Solomon Arokia Raj were also present in the meeting.
