On the 10th of December, Friday, the Central Investigation Department (CID) officials raided Mr. Lakshminarayana’s residence.
According to sources, Mr. Lakshminarayana, a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has been alleged of committing offenses. During his tenure as the Director of Skill Development Corporation under the regime of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) he allegedly extorted money under Simmons Project.
The initial investigation by the State Police confirmed that Rs. 242 crore has been diverted to shell companies as part of the skill development program under Mr. Lakshminarayana’s tenure. Later, the A.P., Police handed over the money extortion case to the CID.
As per the CID investigation, searches were conducted at Mr. Lakshminarayana’s house in Andhra Pradesh.
The raids are underway and more details are awaited.
