Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) surveyed the ongoing Polavaram Project in the State.
On the 14th of December, Mr. Reddy along wih official of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) inspected the construction of one of the biggest irrigation project in India.
The Chief Minister through an aerial survey personally examined the ongoing works of the spillway.
During the survey, the Irrigation Department officials and representatives of Polavaram project’s Construction Company explained the progress of the project and assured the smooth work.
Post inspection, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted a review meeting.
During the meeting, Mr. Reddy discussed the duration of construction and benefits to the State.
The A.P., CM said, water for irrigation would be provided from 2022 Kharif season and the construction would be finished by 2021 March.
In addition, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, cleared the rumours of height reduction and said the height of the Polavaram Dam has not been reduced by even a single millimeter. He said, “”The FRL level is 45.72 meters as prescribed while the top of the main dam level is 55 meters and should not believe rumours.”
Mr. Jagan said, “Rehabilitation programs are estimated to cost at least Rs. 3,330 crores.”
Mr. Reddy also said, “The spillway and spill channel works should be completed by the end of May (2021,) at the same time steps should be taken to fill the gaps in the coffer dam by which the main dam work will move forward actively.”
