The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government, on the 10th of December, launched another awaited scheme, the Jagananna Jeeva Kranti Scheme.

In the past one year, the YSRCP launched several schemes benefiting people living in Andhra Pradesh.

Under the new Jagananna Jeeva Kranti scheme, women belonging to the Backward Class (BC,) the Scheduled Caste (SC,) and the Scheduled Tribe (ST) would get sheep and goat units.

The women, between the ages of 45 to 60 of the aforementioned categories would get the sheep and goats through the Rythu Bharosa Kendras in the State.

For the implementation of the scheme, the YSRCP Government released Rs. 1,868.63 crores to distribute 2.49 lakh sheep and goat units. Each unit contains either 14 sheep or goats.

Including the cost of transport and insurance, the prices have been fixed at Rs. 75,000 for each beneficiary. Beneficiaries can purchase any species of sheep such as Nellore Brown, Macharla Brown, Vizianagaram breeds, Black Bengal in goats, or native breeds. Only one unit is distributed to each beneficiary.

In regard to this, the AP Government signed an agreement with Allana Foods. The State Government decided to launch the scheme to provide employment to landless underprivileged women.

The Jagananna Jeeva Kranti scheme would be implemented in three phases with the distribution of 20,000 units in the first instalment till March 2021, 1,30,000 units in the second instalment from April to August 2021 and 99,000 units from September to December 2021 as the third instalment.

The scheme was launched by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of YSRCP and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh virtually through a video conference.

The scheme was one of the promises of the YSRCP Government, ahead of the 2019 Assembly elections.

Stay tuned for further updates.
