Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy met Union Jalasakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and urged to provide adequate assistance to complete the Polavaram project expeditiously.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy met the Union Jal Shakti Minister on the 16th of December and sought the approval of the revised estimates of the Polavaram project.

The meeting was scheduled during the Delhi visit of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy.   Before meeting Mr. Shekhawat, Mr. Reddy met the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed the issues in Andhra Pradesh including the three capitals issue.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also briefed that the revised cost of the Polavaram project will be Rs 55,656 crore and requested to release of Reimbursement of land acquisition and rehabilitation cost.

The Chief Minister (CM) also asserted the minister over the number of families to be relocated, who has been increased significantly in 2017–2018 compared to 2005–2006 and the number of flooded houses that increased from 44,574 families to 1,06,006.

During the meeting, the Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy reminded that another Rs. 1,779 crores is yet to be reimbursed which was spent by the State Government for the construction of Polavaram.

Y.S. Jagan said any delay in the construction of the project would further increase the cost and urge that the project be completed as early as possible.
