Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) is set to launch the YSR Jagananna Colonies project. The launch event would be held virtually from the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) camp office, Tadepalli, A.P.

The YSR Jagananna Colonies Project is one of the major projects promised by the YSRCP Government during the 2019 election campaign. Under the project, the Andhra Pradesh Government would construct 28,30,227 houses by 2023.

The construction of 28.30 lakh houses would be done in a phased manner. In phase I, nearly 15.6 lakh houses will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 28,084 crores. In the second phase, 12.70 lakh houses would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 22,920 crores. The Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government allotted Rs. 50,944 crores for the entire YSR Jagananna Colonies Project, with a deadline of June 2023.

Meanwhile, under the scheme, the YSRCP Government also distributed house sites to approximately 30.76 lakh beneficiaries for the house construction. It is to be noted, of the 8,905 layouts in the first phase, 11.26 lakh houses are being constructed as the YSR Jagananna colonies, 2,92,984 houses are being constructed for the beneficiaries with their own land and 1,40,465 houses for the beneficiaries with land allotted by the Government.

For the construction of the houses, the State Government appointed 21.70 crore workers, including high management officials to labourers.

Also, the large scale construction amid the second wave of the Wuhan virus (Novel Coronavirus) would give employment to many people including masons, rod vendors, carpenters, electricians, bricklayers, and cement sellers.

These constructed houses would have facilities like the internet, drinking water and others. In regard to this, the State Government is spending Rs. 4,128 crores on drinking water, Rs. 4,986 on power supply, Rs. 627 crores on Internet and 567 crores on other facilities at these constructed colonies. The houses would be of 340 square feet, with one bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, porch and a hall. The houses would also have two fans, two tube lights, four bulbs and one syntex tank.

The construction of the promised ‘Pedalandhariki Ilu’ scheme would be completed by 2023.
