Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on the 7th of December, reached Eluru in West Godavari district.
Mr. Reddy along with the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Minister Perni Nani and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy reached Eluru in a private helicopter. He directly went to the Eluru Government Hospital, where nearly 292 people are admitted, of which 140 got discharge and the remaining are undergoing treatment.
According to sources, an unknown or mysterious illness is spreading in Eluru.
So far, 1 person died and as many as 292 people are diagnosed with the disease, which has symptoms of nausea, unconsciousness and fits.
The doctors and medical experts are still trying to find out the disease.
According to sources, after meeting the victims, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy would conduct a review meeting. The meeting is scheduled with the authorities at the Zilla Parishad conference Hall. The YSRCP Government also directed the authorities to monitor the treatment of the victims and arrangements for them at the hospital.
Later, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would reach Devarapalli and attend the wedding reception of the daughter of Gopalapuram Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Talari Venkat Rao.
A special team of doctors are in Eluru to treat the victims while a house to house survey has been undertaken to identify prospective patients.
The State Health Commissioner Katamaneni Bhaskar also reached Eluru to take stock of the situation and monitor the treatment.
Biswa Bhushan Harichandan, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh also expressed concern and directed medical officials to ensure best treatment to the victims suffering from this mysterious disease or illness.
On the other hand, the opposition like the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the JanaSena Party in the State lashed out at the ruling YSRCP Government after the sudden outbreak of the disease.
