The Andhra Pradesh Election Commission (EC) is all set to count the Municipal election votes on the 14th of March.
According to the sources, the State EC officials would begin counting of votes from 8:00 A.M., on Sunday.
Recently on the 10th of March, the State conducted the Local Body elections for 11 municipal corporations, 71 municipalities and Nagar Panchayats. Though there are 12 municipal corporations in A.P., elections were held for 11 only. Due to an issue with the voters list, Eluru is yet to conduct the municipal elections.
A total of 4,026 tables were arranged for the counting of votes including 2204 tables in corporations and 1,822 tables in municipalities. Around 2,376 counting supervisors, 7,412 staff in corporations and 1,941 supervisors in municipalities and 5,195 staff were deployed.
The police imposed section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) at the counting centres besides deploying 20,419 police personnel including 172 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs,) 476 Circle Inspectors (CIs,) 1,345 Superintendent Inspectors (SIs,) 17,292 constables and 1,134 others.
The State Election Commissioner Nimmgadda Ramesh Kumar on the 13th of March, conducted a meeting with the officials. During the meeting Mr. Kumar reviewed all the arrangements made for counting of votes. District collectors, Superintendents of Police (SPs) and returning officers attended the meeting.
In addition, on the 13th of March, the State Election Commission (SEC) released a notification for the mayor’s election. The mayors and deputy mayors for 11 municipal corporations excluding Eluru would be held on the 18th of March.
On the other hand, besides counting of Municipal Corporation election votes, the State would also conduct elections for two Graduate Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) seats.
The voting for the Teachers MLC election would begin at 8:00 A.M.
