The Andhra Pradesh Government, on the 18th of June, decided to announce additional relaxation to the ongoing curfew in the State.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, relaxed curfew rules timings. Unlike previously, now shops, markets and individuals are allowed outside till 6:00 P.M.

Previously, shops and other essential markets were allowed to function between 6:00 A.M., to 2:00 P.M., but, the time has been extended by 4 hours. The decision was taken during a review meeting over the current situation of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the State. In the past few days, the State is witnessing fewer cases of the Wuhan virus with an increased number of recoveries.

The new guidelines would be in effect from the 21st of June, a day after the imposed curfew ends. As per new curfew guidelines, The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government has ordered shops in the State to close by 5:00 P.M. In addition, government offices would continue to function as usual with curfew relaxations.

The curfew regulations would be in effect strictly after 6:00 P.M., and asked all the people of A.P., to abide by the rules until further notice. The Government even alerted police officials to ensure everyone takes the imposed curfew seriously and follows all the guidelines like wearing face masks, social distancing (when outside) and other precautionary measures to control the spread of the virus.

It is to be noted, the aforementioned relaxations would be effective in all the districts of A.P., except East Godavari. This district has the highest number of the Wuhan virus cases and is reporting a rise without any improvement regularly. Hence, taking the situation in to consideration, the State Government decided to continue curfew guidelines as it is in East Godavari. All the people and markets, shops and transport in the district would follow previous rules and would function till 2:00 P.M.
