On the 12th of February, the State Election Commission (SEC) announced to put a hold on the Grama Panchayat elections in 274 panchayats.

According to sources, the Grama Panchayat elections have been stalled in 274 grams as these villages were not mentioned in the panchayat elections list.

In total, 13,371 gram panchayats in the state were scheduled to contest the Grama Panchayat elections, of which elections for 3,249 panchayats were finished in the first phase.

Polling for the 3,328 grama panchayats would be held tomorrow, the 13th of February.

Meanwhile, 3,221 panchayats would conduct elections in the third phase on the 17th of February and 3,299 panchayats on the 21st of February.

However, the SEC did not mention anything about 274 panchayats in the issued notifications. Therefore the elections in these villages would be held later.

Besides these, elections in Sripotti Sriramulu Nellore District and Velicharla Panchayat were halted due to non filing of nominations for Sarpanch and Ward posts.

Meanwhile, the SEC officials are all set to conduct the 2nd phase of the Andhra Pradesh Grama Panchayat elections on the 13th of February.
