AP Grama Panchayat Elections’ Third Phase Nominations Begin Today

In Andhra Pradesh, nominations for the third phase of the Grama Panchayat elections started from the 6th of February.

The nomination filing for the first phase of the first phase elections started from the 29th of January till the 31st of January.

Nominations for the second phase were from the 2nd of February and ended on the 4th of February.

The State Election Commission (SEC) announced the nomination process for the three phases till the 8th of February. The nominations would be filed between 10:30 A.M., to 5:00 P.M.

In the wake of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19, only two people would be allowed to accompany the candidates for the nomination.

The third phase election will be held on February 17 from 6.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., and the counting of votes will start from 4:00 P.M. on the same day.

As many as 19 revenue divisions will go to the polls during the third phase. The divisions include Srikakulam, Palakonda, Vizianagaram, Paderu, Rampachodavaram, Yetapaka, Jangareddigudem, Kukunuru, Machilipatnam, Gurazala, Kandukur, Gudur, Naidupet, Adoni, Kurnool, Ananthapuramu, Rajampet, Kadapa and Madanapalle.

As many as 3,558 panchayats would go to the polls.

As per sources, the people who filed their nomination for the first phase election have started campaigning and also received their election symbols.

Candidates and their supporters are visiting each and every house in the villages to ask for votes.

To familiarize the voters, sarpanch and ward member candidates are showcasing their symbols.

Though the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government said it is impossible to conduct the elections, the SEC announced to conduct the elections.

Since the beginning, the State Election Commission and the YSRCP Government have been in a tussle over the elections.

Despite several attempts, the Andhra Pradesh Government failed to delay the panchayat elections.

The Andhra Pradesh Grama Panchayat elections are scheduled to begin from the 9th of February and would continue till the 21st of February.

The first phase polling would be on the 9th of February, the second phase on the 13th of February, the third phase polling is scheduled for the 17th of February and the, for which final phase polling would be held on the 21st of February.
