On the 23rd of April, the Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC,) directed former minister and a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) member Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao to attend the Central Investigation Department (CID) probe.
According to sources, the Court reviewed a petition filed by a CID official of Kurnool Narayan Reddy against Uma Devineni. As per petition, Uma Devineni Maheshwara Rao has been ignoring CID notice to attend the investigation and hearing.
On the 7th of April, the CID of Kurnool had booked Uma Devineni for displaying fake videos alleging false allegations against the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. A case was registered for showing a morphed video of Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy speaking at a press meet.
The CID registered an FIR against Uma Devineni Maheshwara Rao under sections 464, 465, 468, 469, 470, 471, 505 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)
The notices were issued twice to appear before the CID on the 15th of April and the 19th of April.
Now, after missing two notices, the TDP leader has been directed to appear before the CID in Kurnool on the 29th of April.
