Chintamaneni Prabhakar, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) was arrested on the 11th of September.
The Andhra Pradesh Police registered a case against Mr. Prabhakar for making inappropriate comments against the Dalit Community in Pinakadimi village, Andhra Pradesh. The Police arrested Prabhakar at his residence in West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh.
According to sources, Chintamaneni Prabhakar absconded 12 days back and was finally spotted at his residence on the morning of the 11th of September.
However, his followers and TDP workers created chaos at his residence and argued with the Police against his arrest. During the argument, his followers even harmed six women police constables.
The AP Police registered a case against Chintamaneni Prabhakar under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Apart from this, the Police also registered 10 more cases against him under relevant sections.
Chintamaneni Prabhakar is likely to be soon presented in an Andhra Pradesh court for a hearing.
