On the 16th of August, the Andhra Pradesh Police arrested two men who were caught flying a drone over the residence of N. Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)
According to sources, the Intelligence Security Wing captured visuals of a drone flying over the residence of Naidu in Undavalli village, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh.
The Police said they arrested the men who were allegedly trying to capture videos of the residence of Naidu, which is a high security area. Despite several attempts by TDP workers and activists, the AP Police did not reveal the identity of the men. On the other hand, the men justified themselves, saying they sought permission to capture the water flow from the river bank and the water level in the Prakasam barrage, from the Irrigation Department of AP.
The TDP leaders expressed their anger over the incident and asked the Police to take strict action against the men. The leaders of the Party also deemed the incident as a conspiracy against Chandrababu Naidu.
Mr. Naidu also asked the AP Police to conduct an investigation and find out who gave the men the permission to trespass on his property.
Naidu said, “My residence is high security zone. How could a private person fly drone onto my residence.” He further asked the State Government to reveal the name of the person who granted the men the permission to fly the drone over his residence and what was the individuals’ motive to do so.
The incident took place after the Andhra Pradesh High Court, on the 15th of August, directed the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) the Government of AP, to beef up the security of Naidu.
The Police registered a case against the two men under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and started an investigation.
