The Andhra Pradesh Government led by Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is working towards the welfare of women in the State.
Recently during an event, Mr. Pedireddy Ramachandra Reddy, the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister, said, “Andhra Pradesh is the only State in the country where 100% employment guarantee mates are women.” He further said that the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is committed to empowering women and working for the same, with various welfare schemes.
According to sources, under the NREGA, approximately 64 lakh women were given jobs, of the total 91 lakh job cards.
The statements of Mr. Pedireddy Ramachandra Reddy came during an award event. On the 9th of March, the YSRCP Minister presented Mahila Sakthi awards to employment guarantee mates (women assistants) under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) at the Panchayat Raj office.
The event was attended by the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Principal Secretary Mr. Gopalakrishna Dwivedi, the Commissioner of Guntur district Mr. Kona Sasidhar, the Special Commissioner of Guntur district Santhipriya Pandey and the Chief Finance Officer Mr. Shyamala.
