The members of the Azim Premji Foundation, on the 26th of July, met Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) and discussed zero based natural farming (ZBNF.)

The meeting was held at the AP Secretariat in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh.

The members of the foundation, Kanna Babu, the Agriculture Minister, Madhusudan Reddy, the Principal Secretary of AP, Vijay Kumar, the Agriculture Commissioner and other members of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) were also present at the meeting.

According to sources, during the meeting, the members of Azim Premji Foundation offered an amount of Rs. 100 crores for the ZBNF programme for five years. The Foundation also sought details of the programme so they can provide the necessary technical help to the State Government.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy informed the members, the AP Government made a farming team, who are responsible for the ZBNF and will prepare the necessary guidelines for the implementation of the ZBNF programme.

Jagan Mohan Reddy also said the Government is already working towards the welfare of farmers and will continue the good work with the help of the ZBNF programme.

Mr. Reddy said, “Laboratories will be set up for testing the seed, fertilisers, pesticides before distributing them to the farmers.”

Apart from the Azim Premji Foundation, a German Bank will also extend support of Rs. 1,735 crores for the ZBNF programme in Andhra Pradesh.
