On the 16th of July, Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, cleared the file of Biswa Bhushan Harichandan and appointed him as the new Governor of Andhra Pradesh (AP.)

Previously, E.S.L. Narasimhan held the position of the Governor of AP and Telangana, but now he will only be the Governor of Telangana.

Biswa Bhushan Harichandan is a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Odisha. He entered politics in 1971 and joined the Bharatiya Janata Sangh (BJS,) where he became a national executive member. Later, in 1980, he joined the BJP and became its President of Odisha till 1988.

He is also a 5 time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA,) who wrote several books in his life span of 84 years.

The office of the President issued a statement on the 16th of July, which read, “The President of India is pleased to make the following appointments. The above appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.”

Harichandan expressed his happiness and said, “I am happy for getting an important assignment for a big state like Andhra Pradesh. I will try my best to resolve some of the contentious issues like Polavaram project and border disputes prevailing between the two states.”

Apart from Mr. Harichandan, Ram Nath Kovind also cleared the file of Anasuiya Uikey, who is now the new Governor of Chhattisgarh.

Anasuya replaced Anandiben Patel, who is the Governor of two states, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Now, Ms. Patel will only be the Governor of Madhya Pradesh.

Anasuiya Uikey and Biswa Bhushan Harichand will take over their respective charges soon.
