Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the National President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) wrote to Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) regarding arrears payment for farmers.
On the 17th of June, Nara Chandrababu wrote a letter and demanded arrears for the grains collected from the farmers in A.P. He said farmers are suffering due to the delay in payments. The TDP President also asked the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government to provide the promised Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farmers.
Highlighting the reign of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Government, Nara Chandrababu Naidu said, back in TDP’s rule, the arrear money used to be deposited to the farmer’s account within 48 hours after collecting the grains. However, in the rule of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and its YSRCP Government, even after two months of grain purchase, farmers are waiting for payments. In regard to this, Mr. Naidu wrote the letter and asked how the farmers could pay the interest on loans and get ready for investments in Kharif.
Pointing out pending payments, Nara Chandrababu said, Godavari districts alone have arrears of Rs. 2,500 crores and accused that grain procurement was neglected. The total arrears to be paid is more than Rs. 4,000 crores. He alleged that farmers had not received insurance payments despite the loss of groundnut crop in Rayalaseema. He also expressed concern over the trouble tenant farmers are facing due to the YSRCP Government. The State Government was not providing assistance to the tenant farmers and also making these farmers suffer in registering their crops through online mode.
The Telugu Desam Party posted the written letter on its official Twitter handle on the 17th of June.
