Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the 14th of June, Tuesday, released compensation under the YSR Free Crop Insurance scheme.

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP ) Government released an amount of Rs. 2,977 crores, pertaining to the 2021-Kharif season at Kothapalli village in the newly formed Sri Satyasai district.  The amount was remitted into the accounts of 15.61 lakh farmers of Anantapur and Sri Satyasai districts who lost their crops due to the natural calamities during the 2021 Kharif season under the direct benefit transfer option.

The YSR Free Crop Insurance scheme was introduced by the Andhra Pradesh Government in 2019 where farmers were not required to pay anything to get compensation for loss in crops due to natural calamities.  As per the instructions of Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the crop insurance payment was the farmers’ right and directed that it should be granted at the earliest to provide relief to the farmer who lost their crop due to natural calamities in order to make them continue cultivation in the next season.

In regard to this, the agriculture department has kept track of crop loss through an e-crop database which is published in Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs) and updated after feedback from farmers.
