In Andhra Pradesh, the weather department issued a new rain alert in Telugu State.

As per sources, a low-pressure area formed in North East Bay of Bengal, adjacent to Bangladesh on the 18th of August, Thursday.   The low pressure is said to be moving northwest and strengthened into severe pressure late Thursday evening.  

As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD,), officials said it will turn into a cyclone by Friday morning and move west-northwest and cross the coast between North Odisha and West Bengal. 

Heavy to moderate rainfall has been predicted in the coastal regions and low-lying areas of Andhra Pradesh.  The State Meteorological Department predicted that this cyclone would have some impact on the North Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema areas in the next 24 hours.  Rail alerts have been issued for the next two days, the 19th of and 20th of August.

The citizens of the alerted regions are asked not to venture out and fishermen were also prohibited from going fishing near the coastal regions.
