After reporting below 3 lakh cases earlier this week, India is witnessing a surge in the Wuhan virus cases also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.) In the past two days, the Nation registered over 6 lakh cases, including 3.47 lakh on the 21st of January, Friday.
On Friday morning, the Union Health Ministry confirmed 3,47,254 new Wuhan virus cases, 703 fatalities and 2,51,777 recoveries in the past 24 hours. The updated data is available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)
In addition, the active cases of Wuhan virus topped the two million (20 lakh) with 20,18,825 till date. Notably, the active cases comprise 5.23% of the total infections and recovery rate is over 90%.
In addition, total recoveries from the Wuhan virus reported till date stand at 3,60,58,806 and death cases at 488,396.
On the other hand, COVID-19’s new variant Omicron is also rising rapidly with 9,692 cases till date. With the updated data, India is the second worst hit nation from the Wuhan virus, the first nation is the United States of America (U.S.A.)
Also, the Indian Health Department has administered 160.43 crore vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
