Vijayawada: Jana Sena City President Pothina Venkata Mahesh has initiated a hunger strike, demanding the Vijayawada West assembly seat for himself. Mahesh’s protest comes amid growing discontent within the party over seat allocations in the upcoming elections.
Expressing his frustration with the decision to leave the Vijayawada West seat to the alliance comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Mahesh emphasized his unwavering dedication to the Jana Sena cause over the past five years. He cited his extensive efforts to bolster the party’s grassroots support and his role in spearheading various agitations aimed at exposing the alleged misdeeds of incumbent MLA Vellampalli Srinivas.
“I have toiled tirelessly for the party’s growth and have stood firm against corruption and injustice,” Mahesh declared. “I trusted Pawan Kalyan when he assured me of a ticket, and now I urge him and other key leaders of the alliance to honor their commitment by allocating the Vijayawada West seat to Jana Sena.”
Mahesh’s hunger strike reflects the mounting pressure within the party ranks as aspirations clash with strategic alliances forged ahead of the elections. With the support of his constituents in the Vijayawada West Constituency, Mahesh remains resolute in his demand for electoral representation, believing that his grassroots efforts have earned him the right to contest from the coveted seat.
