K. Chandrashekar Rao and Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh (AP) respectively, will soon organise a meeting regarding the transfer of Godavari water.
The meeting is scheduled to be held on the 24th of September at Pragati Bhavan, Telangana.
During the meeting, the duo will decide about the transfer of Godavari water to the Krishna Basin in Telangana.
Officials of the irrigation departments of both the State will also be present during the meeting. This is not the first meeting between the AP CM and the Telangana CM regarding the same. Previously, Jagan Mohan Reddy and KCR met and unanimously decided to transfer water from the Godavari river to the Krishna Basin to solve the water issues in Telangana.
The Governments of Telangana and AP even constituted a committee of engineers separately to prepare a route map regarding the same. The meeting was scheduled after the committees submitted their final report about the matter.
On the 19th of September, R.K. Gupta, the Chairman of the Krishna Board in Telangana, met the Engineer in Chief (ENC) of Telangana and ENC of AP and discussed the usage of water. After the meeting, the Telangana Government ordered the Committee of Joint Engineers to calculate the amount of water transferred from the Pothireddypadu Head Regulatory.
Apart from the Godavari water transfer issue, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and KCR are also expected to discuss the other existing issues in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
