On the 12th of February, the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar issued showcause notices to the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Minister Kodali Nani.

According to sources, Mr. Kumar took the decision for making insulting comments on the SEC. According to the SEC the YSRCP Minister Kodali Nani targeted the SEC in connection with ration door delivery vehicles and said due to them, the delivery of ration stopped in Andhra Paradesh.

According to the SEC, the YSRCP Minister was making derogatory comments against the SEC and the ongoing arrangements of the Grama Panchayat elections.

In the showcause notice issued, Mr. Kumar directed Mr. Kodali Nani to give an explanation in person or through a representative and warned of action if no explanation is given.

The notices stated that an explanation must be given by 5:00 P.M., on the 12th of February.

Responding to the issued notice in the given time, Kodali Nani denied all the allegations of the SEC.  He said that he did not make any comments on purpose. He said that he has respect for SEC and explained that the media conference was held as part of exposing the anarchy of the opposition party regarding the results of the first phase panchayat elections.

Earlier, the SEC ordered not to use the YSRCP flag colors while Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government has approached the court and hearing on the petition is underway.  

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Grama Panchayat elections are underway.  The four phased elections are scheduled to end on the 21st of February.

While the first phase held on the 9th of February, the remaining phases are on the 13th, the 17th and the 21st of February.
