Notice Issued To 2 YSRCP Leaders And 47 Others For Abusive Remarks Against HC Judges

The Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) High Court (HC,) on the 26th of May, issued a notice to 49 people of Andhra Pradesh for posting abusive posts and comments against recent HC judgments.

Advocate Lakshmi Narayan filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the A.P., High Court, against those who made abusive comments regarding a few recent judgements.

The  judgments include,the Dr. Sudhakar Reddy case.  Recently, on the 22nd of May, the A.P., High Court ordered a Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) probe in the matter, following which a few political leaders targeted HC judges with abusive remarks.   In another such judgement, the Court ruled out the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) plans to paint buildings blue (the YSRCP colour.)

In regard to this, a section of social media and followers of the YSRCP took to social media platforms and started abusing and making derogatory remarks to the HC judges.  

The notice was issued to 49 people including Nandigam Suresh,a Member of Parliament (MP) and Amanchi Krishna Mohan, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the YSRCP.

The High Court received complaints from several advocates and other individuals about abusive posts and demanded action against those responsible for it.

The High Court adjourned the case and asked the 49 people to file a reply for their action and comments.

The next hearing is adjourned three weeks after, the date is yet to be announced.
