On Thursday, the Andhra Pradesh Government have appointed the Olympics badminton Silver medalist, P.V. Sindhu as a deputy collector.

The appointment letter was handed over by the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu at the state secretariat in the presence of Sindhu’s parents. She was asked to join duty within 30 days by the State Government.

P.V. Sindhu said that she was happy to be appointed as a deputy collector. She also clearly stated that badminton will be her first priority.

Chandrababu Naidu hopes that she would score more victories and bring laurels to the country and the State.

The state legislature had passed a bill in the month of May, amending the State Public Services Act to appoint Sindhu as a Group I officer in the government.

Chandrababu Naidu acknowledged her success in the Olympics last year by giving her a cash reward of Rs. 3 crores, a residential plot in Amaravati and Group I officer’s job. In addition to this, the Telangana government gave her a cash reward of Rs. 5 crores and a residential plot as she was born in Hyderabad.

Even though she got a job offer in Telangana, she accepted the offer of Andhra Pradesh, the native state of her parents.
