Mr. Pawan Kalyan, the President of the JanaSena Party, inquired about the health of Mr. Harirama Jogaiah, who is on a hunger strike.

It is to be noted, Mr. Harirama Jogaiha, a former Minister of Andhra Pradesh and a Kapu community leader was on an indefinite hunger strike, demanding 5% reservation for the kapu community.   Prior to going on an indefinite strike, Mr. Harirama Jogaiah, the founder of the Kapu Sena, on the 31st of December, wrote a letter to Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.  In the letter, Mr. Harirama Jogaiah demanded 5% reservation for the Kapu community under the Economically Backward Classes (EBC) quota.

When the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) did not respond to the demand of Mr. Harirama Jogaiah, he decided to go on an indefinite hunger strike.  However, being hungry for long took a toll on Mr. Harirama Jogaiah’s health, following which he was admitted to a hospital in Eluru.  Upon hearing about the health condition of Mr. Harirama Jogaiah, Mr. Pawan Kalyan inquired about his health and appealed Mr. Harirama Jogaiah to end the hunger strike.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan assured the 85 year old Kapu leader Mr. Harirama Jogaiah to raise the reservation demand in some other way and asked Mr. Harirama Jogaiah to end his indefinite hunger strike.   Trusting over the support of Mr. Pawan Kalyan, Mr. Harirama Johaiah ended his strike and took medicine with food.

Meanwhile, Mr. Pawan Kalyan slammed the ruling YSRCP Government led by Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, for not providing reservation to the Kapus in the State.  He also pointed out that the previous government led by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) passed a resolution in this regard and sent the same to the Central Government.
