Political leaders of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh (AP) expressed grief and conveyed their condolences to the family members of Kodela Siva Prasad Rao, the former Assembly Speaker of AP.

Kodela Siva Prasad, a member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) passed away on the 16th of September after trying to take his life by hanging himself.

To avoid any kind of protests and violence, the AP Police imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in Guntur and Narasaraopet, Andhra Pradesh.  Any public gathering and meeting is prohibited in the area where Section 144 is imposed.

According to sources, Kodela tried to commit suicide as the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government filed approximately 15 criminal cases against him and his family.  Due to corruption and other cases, he was emotionally unstable from the past few days and eventually tried to kill himself.

Recently, Kodela was also alleged of stealing furniture belonging to the AP Assembly and keeping it at his home and showroom.

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, visited Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital, where Kodela Siva Prasad Rao was admitted.

Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India, took to his Twitter handle and conveyed his condolences to the family of Kodela.  He said he was shocked to receive the news of Kodela’s death.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, also offered his condolences to the family members of the former AP Assembly Speaker.

The AP Police and Telangana Police launched an investigation regarding the death of Kodela Siva Prasad Rao.

Kodela Siva Prasad Rao’s body will be kept at the Osmania Mortuary and the postmortem will be held on the 17th of September.
