Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress (INC) invited non Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and parties to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Uttar Pradesh.

On the 26th of December, Monday, Mr. Rahul Gandhi, who is leading the Bharat Jodo Yatra addressed the public in Delhi and asked Uttar Pradesh leaders like Ms. Mayawati, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav, Mr. Jayant Singh to join the yatra, which is set to enter Uttar Pradesh soon.

It is to be noted, Ms. Mayawati is the President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP,) Mr. Akhilesh Yadav is the President of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Mr. Jayant Singh is the President of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD.)  The three parties are said to be in opposition of the ruling BJP Government in the State of Uttar Pradesh.

According to sources, Mr. Rahul Gandhi has sent an official letter to the aforementioned leaders asking them to join the INC led Bharat Jodo Yatra.  However, it is yet to be known if Ms. Mayawati, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav and Mr. Jayant Singh have given their consent to join the yatra.

The INC started this Bharat Jodo Yatra in September, to raise its voice against Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Central Government which allegedly brought price hikes, unemployment and misrule in India.  The 75 years old Congress Party, which is also an opposition of the BJP blamed the BJP Government to kill democracy and being a hurdle towards and growth and development of India and Indians.

Furthermore, the nationwide Bharat Jodo Yatra, which started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu has covered states like Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi.  The yatra has been halted in view of Christmas and New Year and would resume from Uttar Pradesh, on the 3rd of January.
