The Supreme Court (SC,) on the 26th of July, issued a notice to the Government of Andhra Pradesh (AP) and the Government of Telangana, asking them to submit a report each regarding the vacancies for teachers in government schools.

The SC asked the Telangana Government and AP Government officials to submit a report about the teachers in government schools and the job vacancies within 3 days.

After the notice of the SC, Shailendra Kumar Joshi and L.V. Subrahmanyam, the chief secretaries of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively, asked the officials of both the States to submit the reports. If both the Telugu states fail to submit the reports on time, Mr. Joshi and Mr. Subrahmanyam will have to appear before the SC.

The orders of the SC came after a hearing on a petition filed against the provision of accommodation to teachers and teachers’ placements in the government schools of Telangana and AP.

The Tribunal Bench of the SC reviewed the petition and ordered the governments of both the States to submit the reports.

This is not the first time the SC asked for a report. The Court asked for a report previously as well, but the Telangana Government and AP Government failed to submit it.
