On the 24th of February, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, the National President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) extended support to farmers protesting against the three capital issue.

On Thursday, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu and TDP General Secretary Mr. Nara Lokesh congratulated the people of Amaravati who have been fighting for 800 days. Notably, Amaravati farmers and citizens are continuing their silent protest against the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) demanding Amaravati to be the only Capital of Andhra Pradesh. Their protest completed 800 days today.

While extending congratulations, the TDP leaders assured their support to the farmers and people, until the YSRCP Government led by Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, agrees to their demands.

During an address to the media, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said, “History would never forgive CM Jagan for halting capital construction that would create lakhs of crores of wealth. He criticised YSRCP government for mortgaging Amaravati lands to raise funds.”

Furthermore, Chandrababu Naidu alleged that Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is not working to develop the capital city and damaging all the sectors in the state. He said Amravati stood firm in proving that every allegation made by Jagan and others was false.

In addition, Mr. Nara Lokesh expressed confidence that farmers would win this fight.

On the other hand, people and farmers of Amaravati, who crossed the milestone and completed 800 days of protest, went on a 24 hour mass hunger strike. The public initiation, which began at 9 a.m. today, would continue until 9:00 A.M., tomorrow, the 25th of February.

On the 17th of December 2019, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) proposed to have Visakhapatnam, Kurnool and Amaravati as the three State capitals.

While Visakhapatnam would be the executive capital, Kurnool would be the judiciary capital and Amaravati would be the legislative capital.

Although the YSRCP Government withdrew the bill, they said, the bill proposing three capitals would be re-introduced after certain legal amendments.

Therefore, the protest against the A.P., capital issue is still continued with the participation of women, farmers, men and other citizens of Amaravati.
