K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR,) the Chief Minister of Telangana, announced the deadline for the Kaleshwaram irrigation project as the end of June 2019.
KCR, on the 19th of May, visited the Kaleshwaram irrigation project, situated on the Godavari River.
The Telangana Government started the construction of the Kaleshwaram project in 2016 to provide irrigation facility to approximately 1 crore acres land in the State.
Once completed, the Kaleshwaram irrigation project, would provide irrigation facilities for approximately 13 districts in Telangana , with barrage, reserves and drinking water supply.
According to sources, the Project is divided into 7 links covering 13 districts and a canal network of 1,800 kilometers (km.)
KCR visited the project and praised the efforts being made to turn Kaleshwaram irrigation project into a success.
The Project is said to be one of the most expensive projects worth Rs. 80,500 crores. Out of which, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) spent a total of Rs. 10,000 crores till now.
The Kaleshwaram irrigation project is expected to start it’s trial run from the month of July, 2019.
