On the 99th birth anniversary of later N.T. Rama Rao, the founder of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana Government demanded the Bharat Ratna for him.
On the 28th of May, Saturday, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Ministers and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) asked the Central Government to give the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in the country, to N.T. Rama Rao.
Ministers and MLAs like Mr. Malla Reddy, Mr.Puvvada Ajay Kumar, MP Mr. Nama Nageswara Rao, MLAs Mr. Maganti Gopinath, and Mr. Arekapudi Gandhi visited NTR Ghat and paid tributes to him. After paying tribute, the leaders addressed the media and asked for the highest civilian award for the Chief Minister of the then joint State of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Mr. Malla Reddy said, “Not just me, many of my colleagues have an association with NTR and TDP. As a mark of respect, we paid homage and NTR should be given the Bharat Ratna title.”
Meanwhile, the two Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana celebrated the birth anniversary of Mr. N.T. Rama Rao.
