The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Trust Board Chairman Mr. Y.V. Subba Reddy, laid the foundation stone for the construction of Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba Dhyana Mandiram (meditation centre) at Tirumala.
It is to be noted, that Matrusri Vengamamba was considered one of the ardent devotees of Sri Venkateswara Swamy. She not only rendered Sankeertana Seva like Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya but also pioneered Annaprasadam at Tirumala in Andhra Pradesh. Speaking more about the Matrusri Vengamamba, she was a poet and staunch devotee of Lord Venkateswara in the 18th century. She even left her native village Tarigonda in the Chittoor district for Tirumala to worship her beloved Lord till her last breath.
On the 29th of April, Friday, after laying the foundation stone, Mr. Y.V. Subba Reddy said, “She used to meditate in the divine abode and attained salvation. With the largesse by the Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) A Ayodhya Rami Reddy, a Dhyana Mandiram will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 5 crores in 1.5 acre area where the Samadhi of the poetess was located in Tirumala,”
In honour of the 18th Century’s Matrusri Vengamamba, the TTD decided to continue Sankeertana Seva and laid the foundation stone for the Dhyana Mandiram or meditation centre memorial in Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba’s name. Notably, the new foundation would accommodate 350 devotees who can sit in meditation in a spacious hall in the memorial in a serene environment.
Additional the Executive Officer (EO) Mr. A.V. Dharma Reddy, the Joint EO Mr. Veerabrahmam, Ms. Sada Bhargavi, Chief Engineer Mr. Nageswara Rao, the Additional Chief Vigilance and Security Officer (CVSO) Mr. Siva Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy and other officers were also present at the event.
